Bio :

Composer, arranger and percussionist born and raised in Tokyo, their journey with music of various genres began with early exposure to piano, composition, drums, mandola, and percussion at the early age. Formally trained and studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts, they obtained a degreein percussion instruments in  and dabbled in short performing gigs, composing of music scores, and musicals like “The Cat that Lived a Million Times” (directed by Inbal Pint & Avshalom Pollak in 2013). They have appeared in a multitude of musicals from Broadway such as “The Adams Family,” “How to Succeed,” and “Little Shop of Horrors,” to the Westend such as “Miss Saigon,” “Mary Poppins,” and “Everybody talking about Jamie.” Going back to the roots of Japan, they have also performed a variety of original Japanese musicals such as “Rainbow Pieces – Another Judy,” “Rashomon,” and “Night Women”.

Going forth on their music career that transcends beyond the boundaries of instruments, genres and style, they are currently exploring a variety of activities including stage performances, theatrical recordings for movies and dramas, and giving back to the music community by providing live support for artistes such as Umitaro Abe and mama!milk. With hopes to connect with like-minded music enthusiasts and reach a wider audience, they also established an online presence with a YouTube channel that hosts their past and present work, as well as to share their artistry with the world. 

In 2022, they released their first original self-produced album titled “Ocean portraits” with the concept of “a soundtrack for an imaginary stage work”. Originally composed and written by BUN Imai, the album consists of songs that incorporate hall recordings with acoustic chamber music formation, and hosts a melting pot and cross-over of styles and instruments such from drums, percussion piano and toy piano, to the mandola, bouzouki, and musical saw.
